In 1994, the 80th birthday of Sri Swami Satchidananda was celebrated at the Charlottesville Performing Arts Center (now the Martin Luther King, Jr. Performing Arts Center) with an evening of performances by prominent artists and tributes by luminaries.
This DVD captures this special evening that included a music video by Carole King, readings by actresses Diane Ladd and Laura Dern, a Bharata Natyam dance performance by Padmarani Rasiah-Cantu, the comedy stylings of Swami Beyondananda, rare film footage of Conrad Rooks’ “Chappaqua” and the Woodstock Festival, pop icon Peter Max unveiling a new portrait of Swami Satchidananda and the closing talk by Sri Gurudev.
