This is the classic Integral Yoga® class -- the peace-inducing, stress-reducing, health-enhancing practices designed by Yoga master Sri Swami Satchidananda.
Part One - One-Hour Asana Practice
When practiced regularly, this unique series and specific combination of asana will help your body become relaxed, flexible and strong. The poses are held steadily fdor varying lengths of time and accompanied by instructions to focus awareness on the Movement of the breath. They serve to calm the mind and induce an overall feeling of vitality and bliss, while cleansing and nurturing every system, organ and cell in the body.Instructions are both minimal and complete, inspiring you to explore the subtle flow of energy in the body/mind.
Part Two - Thirty-Minute session of Yoga Nidra, Pranayama, and meditation
Deep relaxation, or Yoga Nidra, is a stilling of the body, breath and mind, a journey toward complete awareness of the unlimited wellspring of peace within. Three types of pranayama, or breathing practices, fully oxygenate the body and soothe the central nervous system. Meditation, the crown jewel of Yoga practice, focuses and steadies the mind.
Kali Morse has been practicing and teaching Yoga, and training Yoga teachers, for more than four decades. She is currently director of Teacher Training at the New York Integral Yoga Institute. It is with gratitude to her teacher, Sri Swami Satchidananda, and all the amazing people she has met on her jouney in Yoga that she instructs this Level 1 class.
